Inside Fingene Labs
What the research arm does, how we publish, and what a working paper is and is not.
Fingene Labs is the research arm of Fingene. Its job is to look carefully at how people behave around money, to publish what we find, and to do it in a way that you can judge for yourself.
What a working paper is
A working paper is an early, openly shared piece of work. It describes an idea, the reasoning behind it, and what we have and have not found so far. It is not peer-reviewed unless we say so, and it is not a finished result. Calling it a working paper is a way of being honest about that.
Early ideas, labelled early.
How we publish
- We publish what we find and why it matters, so you can judge it
- We say what is a hypothesis and what is supported
- We do not present a working paper as proof
- We keep the exact workings of the product private, and the app never shows a formula
What is underway
The first working paper looks at why wider access to markets in India has not obviously meant better outcomes for first-time investors, and asks whether repeat losses look more like behaviour than ignorance. It is in preparation. A validation study of the Genes is also in progress, and we will report what it finds, whatever it finds.
What Labs is not
Labs is not investment research, and nothing it publishes is advice. It does not recommend or rate any security, and it does not predict markets. It looks at people.
What question about your own money behaviour would you most like someone to study carefully?
Fingene Insights is educational and descriptive. Nothing here is investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing recommends any stock, fund or financial product.
